How to Use a Fabric Steamer

Having read our fabric steamer reviews, and purchased you own fabric steamer, you may find the following tips to be of use:

Step 1
Hang your garment from a suitable hook, preferably in a position where you can rotate the item during steaming. Ensure that you keep electrical cord away from any water.

Step 2
Fill the fabric steamer with water. If you have hard water in your area, you may want to consider using distilled water to protect the fabric.

Step 3
Plug in the fabric steamer and allow the appliance time to heat. The steamer will usually have a light that glows when it’s ready to use or the steamer will emit a large puff of steam when it’s ready.

Step 4
Always start the top of the item. Hold the steamer about 7 inches away from the fabric and move the steamer in a sweeping motion down the length of the fabric.

Step 5
Establish a pattern to make sure you remove the wrinkles from the entire garment. Be careful not to press the steamer against the fabric or too close to the fabric to prevent water spots or steam marks.

Step 6
Add water to the steamer as needed. Though ensure you unplug the steamer each time you add water.

Step 7
Unplug the steamer and drain the water from the unit before storage. Store the steamer upright away from heat and humidity.
